not counting calories?

Has anyone stopped counting calories? I feel like it’s becoming too triggering of a process. any tips would be much appreciated!

I have never counted calories and I never will. I get overwhelmed by the numbers, plus there is no way in hell that you can precisely calculate your body’s daily needs. I think more in food groups and portions than calories. So, even if I don’t have fruit for breakfast, I’ll have it for lunch or dinner or desert. Making sure that half your plate has some sort of vegetable on it is a good way to make sure you get in your daily intake of vegetables. When I don’t have karate practice, I’ll have only one serving or no serving of meat, but on practice day I’ll have two servings plus grains. Basically the key thing here is to listen to your body and when it’s hungry, feed it.
